Absolutely Stunning.
Say what you will about her performance but her landings were SOLID, as was the dance. Tied for 3rd on floor with only a 6.0 D
This was one of her BEST full in double tuck + tuck back links ever
Her flexibility in her leaps is better now than in 2012. She is way more mature now and it shows. This was a good outing for her on FX. Don't want their best now...wait until Rio.

She doesn't need to spew rainbows but it would be nice if her demeanor even slightly mirrored the tone of the song...
She's performing which has a lot to do with the face. Its not cause she's a female. (Im a female)
People want her to perform. She doesn't need to smile; she needs to show expression (it's actually required). Here, her face is expressionless--that is the problem.

Sad to see Chow in the background purposely not looking at her routine. I know he had an athlete on the beam, but jeez. They were quite a team at one point.

In the background I am pretty sure it is Rachel Gowey on beam with obviously Chow as her coach. How would it be for him watching his student compete while his ex-student was competing on floor.
all this hate on gabby is hilarious. at the end of the day she NEVER has to win anything ever again Simone and all the other girls are trying to get what gabby already has; an Olympic All Around GOLD medal. Not to mention y'all act like she didn't win the silver at the past World championships. Simone will most likely dominate Rio , but NO one is immune to Olympic pressure (ask Aly about that 2012 beam routine in London for the all around) and if she (Simone) is off i have no doubt that Gabby or Aly will be there to scoop that gold up. There is a reason no Olympic All around champion has come back to compete since Nadia; THIS SHIT AIN'T EASY!! especially with social media making every one a critic ( most of you cant do a cartwheel). What Gabby is doing is historic lets just sit back and enjoy The Olympic ride

She was handed the silver medal at the World championships; Marta gave her the spot because of the NBC ratings and USA Gymnastics corruption. Maggie Nichols would have DECIMATED Gabby's scores in the final had she been allowed to compete. It was such an injustice-that silver medal was not hers.
on the nose!, i would not be ahocked to see gabby return to the all around in Rio! but she doesn't have to because she already has an all around olympic gold!
+Caroline Price I seriously doubt Maggie would have decimated Gabby in any form. Case and point this year's American Cup. Gabby won it, Maggie didn't. I like Swaggie Maggie and all.... but to put her above Douglas, Nah............ Definitely Not

ok. on the training video I said "its only PT she will get into it". But I Noe have to say I'm changing my mind. she cracked one tiny smile this entire meet. she doesn't even smile when she salutes the judges. not cool. idk what's going on. either she is that focused, in which case she could still cheer a little for her teammates. maybe she realized she can't place 1st on any individual event? and realozed she just can't beat Simone? idk what it is but I believe the judges are seeing it too. she used to be all big smiles....I miss that girl.
I been watchen gymnastics since the days of the Romanians domination and the U.S.S.R I watched Mary lou but Gabriel so far is the most powerful accurate gymnast I have ever seen grace the mat point blank! I wish I was their to catch every tear and capture every smile Love you Gabriel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smh after all the petty critism she's received I wouldn't be in the mood to smile either. On top of that she's trying to concentrate this is more "I'm a diva fierce" type performance may not be your style but it's definitely not bad I personally loved it.

botched the l-turn (I'm glad the judges are getting serious about marking these connections, at least on fx), but damn her execution is co crisp and good on fx, i don't get why ppl think this is a weak event for her. it's not. she would've had a 6.2 if she did her turn better and i think we can reasonably expect her to do so in the future, but she is not a weak floor worker. also she took out the ferrari so i guess she went conservative after beam?
i feel like gabby's scores were reasonable all nite but ppl are gonna go batshit crazy over one meet because laurie got scores in the 15's on everything with d-scores that are at 6.2- real accurate e-panel- and aly always just puts in an inquiry if her d-score isn't where she wants it lol.

I 100% agree with you. there is not even that she is actually weak in. Shes good and solid at all of them.
It's not so much the execution, which is fine, but her lack of artistry that ppl are complaining about.

when she was 16, this style of music used to fit her.. now she needs better classic music
Her Jesolo music from last year was a perfect fit. Then they went back to the repetitive club beats. The Shakira music from last year wasn't terrible but this is a step down.
agree! I was so excited about her Jesolo music. and if you're going to have an upbeat routine, at least perform it! (see: Simone)

She doesn't have that same spark she had four years ago. Tbh she doesn't look happy to be there at all, but I know she wouldn't have worked so hard to try and make the Rio Games if she didn't want it. I wish she would show more passion though. At least crack a smile here or there so watching her performances is more enjoyable.

Her tumbling passes are still awesome, although the height she use to gain isn't as insane as it use to be but I think that will come. Her turns are very wobbly but other than that im still cheering for her.

How the judges got a 6 d score? She didn't make her spins... and that conection on the second pass, ugh
She wasn't credited with the full value L turn/didn't get the turn connection and she wasn't credited with the connection in the second pass. Otherwise it'd be a 6.3 D-score.
The ferrari leap (upgrade split ring leap +0.1) and the spin connection (D value turn replaces switch ring leap +0.1 and CV bonus +0.1) would get her to 6.3. They must have gave her the back tuck connection, which was pretty speedy

When I saw the international feed...with the angle it made it look as though she was whipping into that Arabian double...I was getting excited 😛...til I saw this taping 😟...I really think she should bring her triple back...she was doing it so well...I love the new routine but I wish she would "perform" it more...it looks "worked"...

tumbling still badass but I miss the playful side in her routines.
She doesn't smile :(. And the turn while she holds her leg isn't great bc she hunches her shoulders. Don't get me wrong- her tumbling is phenomenal. I just don't think she was really into it.

Wish her routine flowed more. Routine seems so choppy that at practice when they are working on parts/ skills not yet putting it all together yet. Do think she will be going to Rio though.
She is such an awkward dancer it's painful. There may be other gymnasts who are not natural or graceful dancers, but there moves still look complete and have purpose. Gabby always looks like she's flinging her arms and going through the motions.. Everyone harps on Raisman and Biles for not being artistic, but at least their presentation is there. It makes a huge difference and makes the routine much more enjoyable to watch.

Ugh, since when did double tucks come back into fashion? So annoying, this isn't 1992 anymore, people (I know she's been doing it for a while and so have others this past quadrennium...still annoys me though...she should have kept her triple full).

Omg!!! Thanks for saying that!!! I used to open with a double tuck at 15 when I was competing around my province...I find it soooooo annoying as well...I hope they re-devalue it next quad...but that's gymnastics, it's trends and what the judges get tired of seeing...
And I know it's more exciting to see backward tumbling but it's just too much at some point

She was explosive at some points in her dance which was nice. Some was dull, first pose didn’t even look like a pose. Leaps were nice. The first turn does not have good execution at all and I would have that taken out ASAP.
her e-score shot up the moment she took out her ferrari. all her routines this quad were pretty poorly constructed for her, she could have had such better scores and performances with better suited routines.
ATTENTION: I know many of you wish to take away from her talent....but since you can't you insist on moaning about whether she's smiling or not.
I used to don't like Gabby on floor because of her tumbling an how the routine is cheographed. But also the music is still horrible I like her tumbling and some of the dance elements!

I'm upset that she made the team, but whatever. What is done it's done. Marta knows what she's doing. Skinner and Locklear would have helped more. Whatever. I hope they win gold. Though, they might take gabby out if she fails in training
Erik Oak Too bad it didn't happen.... I am HAPPY she made the team...She really came through during team finals scoring 15.766 with 9.266 execution highest out of the entire quad beating Kocian and Mustafina in E scores alone!

Why did she take out the Ferrari at the beginning?
She's never done a creditable one, and they knew she risked getting credited a split full instead. That's a problem because she does a Gogean later, and that could ALSO get downgraded to split full, which then becomes a repeated element. Then again, she has 9 C+ higher elements. She really could afford just to delete that opening leap completely and replace the switch ring with that very good split ring. Her E-score would go up and the D-score would be the same
Never would get credit. Or it shouldn't at least.
If we're being honest... No one's Ferrari should get a credit. Lol. I've never seen a single gymnast, including Ferrari herself, do one that is supposed to have the back flexibility/sufficient enough arch for it to truly get credited.
